Yeah, that just sounds like a recipe for disaster. With all that precipitation it doesn't take much wind to knock those trees onto powerlines and create a huge mess. Stay safe up there!Category 5 wrote:The word of the day is "Chaos"
Trees down, power lines down, widespread power outages and flooding. Schools are closed. It's a mess.
Currently, it's 36 with wet snow. Some rain could be mixed in. The pressure is down to 972.2mb. I just had a wind gust to 31mph.
So far we've had almost 5 inches of precip.

Total Rainfall: 5.5" (Plus a tenth of an inch of snow)
Lowest Pressure: 972.2mb
Highest Wind Gust: 31.1mph (No doubt we had higher)
We got more rain then from the July 12-13 2004 storm. The same one that dumped 5 inches of rain on Tabernacle New Jersey in one hour and proceeded to flood Medford Lakes.
In fact the only time I can remember getting more rain was from Hurricane Floyd.
Comparing it to recent flood events
Hurricane Floyd: 7.4"
April 15-17 2007: 5.5"
October 2005: 5"
Hurricane Jeanne: 4.5"
July 12-13 2004: 4.3"
June 23-28 2006: 3.3"
Tropical Storm Ernesto: 2.77"
Tropical Storm Allison: 2"
