Been watching the rotating storm that went thru north Dallas between 9-9:30 PM tonight. Fire Department scanner has reports of multiple building collapses with injuries. Including El Rancho at Walnut Hill and Marsh, Walnut Hill Elementary, houses at Royal and Hillcrest, Thomas Jefferson High School, 635 and Greenville, Forest and Tollway, Harry Hines and Walnut Hill, and many more. From the sounds of it there are many buildings damaged or collapsed and many roads impassable because of limbs, debris, and power lines.

From what I have heard on the scanner and the velocity signatures on radar, the path of wind damage looks like this:

It's not often you see a "debris ball" signature that defined for so long. Simply because in this case, it was going over a heavy populated area so plenty of things to throw up into the air and radar picked it up quite well. And where there is a debris ball, there is likely significant damage.

yeah, that was one thing I noticed tonight, I had been watching the storm for awhile but coming towards and over DFW airport it just wasn't happening but when the tornado warning popped up near Love things escalated in a flash because very quickly it was obvious it was down

Tornado warned cell to the east and a strengthening line coming in from the West. Svr warnings have slowly been creeping southward along the line, now down to the Red River.

@DFWscanner — Storm Damage (Dallas) Since weather has cleared out, Dallas PD's Air-1 helicopter is providing aerial surveys of the damage. Air-1 reports a large swath of damage from Marsh & Walnut Hill and up towards Richardson. Lots of roofs gone. Large trees down. Extensive damage.

MCS is really getting together now, some howling winds ahead of it but nothing like the super-cells earlier. Probably will drop a quick inch maybe two.

I'm sure the folks without roofs or out trying to clean up will only be hindered until the line passes.

I-35 from loop 12 to 635 (where the tall toll express lanes are raised on each side) is nearly impassable. Many folks coming back from the game heading east there likely are stuck. Debris all over the highway.

There was a clear hook echo between Frisco/Mckinney in that part of the line. Looks like some mid level rotation but was quickly overcome by outflows.

I had finally gone asleep. Lightning had other ideas. Geez Louise this is some severe weather. From the reports I’ve heard, there’s yet to be any confirmed fatalities or serious injuries thankfully. Let’s hope that stays true through these storms.

Wow, what a crazy night. Just now got power back. I live just north of the tornado’s path, but there was plenty of storm damage in my neighborhood. About 2 blocks north there is a tree totally uprooted and now laying across the street...
