Poor TS Don. The Death Ridge was the windshield, and Don was the bug. It didn't have a chance.

For you newbies, this is how dire it was back then. Surreal. Just surreal....viewtopic.php?f=73&t=111230&hilit=Tropical+Storm+Don+2011&start=3520

I am interested in how that cluster of storms in west Texas will affect our weather today. Might not see anything but could also see some pop up activity. Would love to get a nice downpour. You know it's bad when I start to dream about rain as I have the past 2 nights. Starting to get desperate. Lol

On this day in 2011 marked one of the hottest weeks in DFW history and one of the hottest starts to August peaking at 110 on the second day.

First week of Aug 2011

1. 107
2. 110
3. 109
4. 108
5. 107
6. 105
7. 104

Makes the 85-95 temps coming feel chilly

So ugly! That was my 1st summer here after living in DC. Talk about a rude awakening!

That was my first Summer and Week of 2 a days for football. That week was horrid lol, it felt like my skin was being melted off of my body.

Rain in August has been achieved... :roflmao: Even had to turn on the wipers for a minute. :double:

12z Euro also has over 5" of rain at DFW

It's not even uncomfortable to be outside, this is like unreal.

It is unreal. For DFW cool max temp records are only mid 80s in the coming days, which is some of the warmest cool maxes during the year. Cool snaps the first week of August just doesn't happen.

Second half of August is not too unusual, naturally cooling period but the first week to two seldom is cool unless you get a day or two of rain but then quickly shoots back up.

By the way bipolar wxman57 of winter 2013-2014 has been seen lurking. Check out his avatar in the winter thread or any tropical threads

About as solid agreement as you can get across the 12z models for a wet cool stretch setting in for DFW.

Did someone mention winter? The QBO and MEI continue to closely match the progression of 2009.

Northwest breeze and an area of showers headed toward DFW.

Further, I don't remember an early August forecast like this. "Rare" would be an understatement.

As of right now things aren't looking that great for rain around south central Texas and for the western half of southeast Texas. Maybe 1 to 2 inches, but the rest of the state looks to receive much more than that.

18z GFS has a bullseye of over a foot of rain over DFW through 288 hours

Looks like a good bit falls Sunday/Monday, I don't come back from Seattle til Monday Night but it has more rain beyond that and constant fronts lol.
