It appears timing for Houston will be later this afternoon and evening. Wonder if that will allow for enough heating for west Houston to finally get some rain? We completely missed out on the last 2 storms.

It looks that way. In fact, I'd expect a MCD and possibly a watch box to go up soon.

I'm showing the boundry to be well into Harris and even Montgomery, but for some reason Montgomery isn't on the list:

That cell NW of Beeville is getting a hook too. Should have a warning soon out of that.

The other thing I've noticed is these storms are popping-up fast and almost immediately show rotation. The two that were warned and also the one NW of Beeville is doing this. If you watch a radar loop, they just form and then immediately "curl up". Must be some crazy vorticity.

I'm amazed at how quickly that radar southwest of Houston has lit up in the past hour. Just waiting to see if the Katy Effect and Bear Creek Dome will hold true through this evening. :D

Here is a good link to see both the temperatures and the precipitation around our area...

http://www.wunderground.com/stationmaps ... 5.53415680

Looks like a quick temperature drop behind the front..with it already down to 39F in Austin, and 36F in Waco! It makes me seriously question our forecasted low of 39F for tonight. With what's happening behind this front right now, I think that number will be a bit too high. Looks like a fun night of weather-watching lies ahead...

Is anyone else having trouble pulling up NWS web sites right now?

{adding} I can't even get the weather underground link mentioned above. They all just time-out.

Thanks again! I'm bookmarking those puppies right now. :D

BTW, under the Bear Creek Dome we have light rain and lots of thunder getting louder. I just put out some plant food so hopefully we'll get enough to water it in sans the hose method.
