It would appear the drought is coming to an end. We've gotten a lot of rain recently and it was really wet around here even before today.

SG,you also have to contend with this. Be careful over there.

Just went through an old fashioned knock down drag out Southeast Texas thunderstorm. Well over an inch of rain in less than a half an hour. Streets are flooded, but not totally impassable or like College Station had last night. My guess is the rainfall rate at the height of the storm was at least 4" per hour. No wind with this one, but incredible CG that finally ran me back inside. I'll report more when I get more data.>>>1.9" almost all of that came in less than half an hour.

Snagged this off of my facebook from someone in my hometown. This was taken on the main highway going through DeRidder, LA in the middle of town in front of Walmart. So a very heavily traveled road.

I had a little less than three inches at my house today, per my personal rain gauge and radar estimates. That doesn't include the rain the past few days. With all the rain recently, it's actually gotten to be a bit too much. haha, right? We have a Flood Warning for Pine Island Bayou - it's currently rising and near flood stage, and is supposed to continue to rise a few feet above flood stage over the next few days. Looking at radar, there appears to be quite a bit more rain on the way overnight. If that makes it here, it will go even higher. No major flooding expected at this current level, though. It's just such a huge change over the horrible drought conditions over the past year or so.

As we always say, it's feast or famine.

We are in much better shape than we were, but we are still in the severe or extreme drought category in most areas with a few small areas of exceptional still around. We are still around a foot below normal in the rainfall department so we still have a ways to go to get back to "normal".

Since December 2011, I have recorded just under 13" at the house. This is amazing as that is almost the entire amount received all of last year. I just hope this patter continues for some months to come as it is amazing how nice local ponds and streams look.
