Rotation picking up just a tad, maybe, on Ft Bend cell as seen from Granger WSR-88D. At the distance between the radar and the cell, may be mid-level.

Talk about brutal weather! The temperature in Brenham, TX is currently 41 degrees with 26mph winds (gusting to 39mph), heavy rain, and a wind chill of 30 degrees. That is some pretty cold stuff!

I wonder if similar conditions are headed Houston's way later this evening?

Wow! The conditions continue to get worse and worse over in Brenham. They have now dropped another 2 degrees down to 39F and winds are SUSTAINED near 30mph with gusts to 41mph (which is creating a windchill near 27F)! Combine all of this with heavy rain, and you have yourself a very nasty scenario.

Update (5:10pm) - The temperature in Brenham CONTINUES to fall. They are now down to a very cold 37-degrees with rain...only 2 degrees above their forecasted low for tonight. lol.

It's about 53 here under the Bear Creek Dome with steady moderate rain and a few rumbles of thunder. No wind for the past 2 hours but just started a bit of a breeze about 5 minutes ago. Get this system out of here and GONE and bring back Spring!

I think I've heard the term "book-end" vortices when I've seen bowing segments that had a nice curl on both North and South ends.

Very impressive book end vortex with very strong rear flank winds. Velocity showing plowing WNW winds at 60-70kts on south side of meso low feature. Hopefully some buoys will pick up some of the wind speeds....should go south of 20 E of GLS...maybe some data from the platforms. Good thing it is offshore or there would be widespread inland wind damage

Wind really howling behind convection with gust to 46 at CRP and frequent gust of 35-45 along the entire TX coast.

We had a very similar event about a month ago, but the low didn't wrap that nicely on radar.

Yep. It has certainly been an eventful month or so with these systems.

Thankfully that low is staying offshore but we're about to get hit with the squall line. Could see up to an inch with this system, then it's gonna get COLD (for March).

I ran into some sleet mixed with rain while driving yesterday evening while it was about 40 degrees, I guess that counts as our winter weather event of this year! Looking pretty stormy next week based on the GFS, should be interesting.

Looks like a nice soaking rain approaching SE Texas.

Not that it has been all that dry...

Perfect timing for me. I managed to get a whole lot of gardening done yesterday, and a good soaking is just what I need. Of course, putting that statement in writing has likely doomed the flora to dryness under the Bear Creek Dome.

I've been watching that rain band for the past hour or so, and it's moving really slowly. Wonder if we'll see much in the way of training storms later?

Looking at the San Antonio radar loop, that line seems to be getting more oriented west to east. Could it be that the Bear Creek Dome and Katy Effect will be broken today?
