:uarrow: Yes...stupid humidity levels for April. here in the bay area there's a brisk flow off the gulf with mid 70's dewpoints. You'd think there's a tropical system lurking offshore. this is without question the warmest spring in my years living here.

Was picking up carts today at my job at 3 pm. I felt like i was in a desert. The air dry was extremely dry and hot, hotter than any day I've experienced in recent summers here. Just to think that only yesterday it was raining like if it was a hurricane is incredible. The weather really can be extremely volatile down here.

It reached 93 degrees at my locale, the hottest reading of the early summer (yeah that is what I am calling it right now), and hopefully we will get a reprieve from this heat this week as cooler temps will infiltrate at least the northern peninsula. Rain and thunderstorms will increase by mid week. Euro was depicting a significant coastal storm to develop and move off the coast off the Carolinas by Thursday. However, that was earlier this morning. I am catching up beginning now to see the latext st runs.

So, any weather statisticians out there have any idea when was the last time that EVERY major reporting station in Florida, each reported measurable precip. during any one given day during the month of April, LOL?? Perhaps this is less an anomaly than I would think, but for the moment.... I'm thinking that such might be the case tomm.(Tue.) and perhaps as well on Wed.! :rain:

Global models are trying to spin up a low in the Bahamas next week with the ECMWF recurving this low near the Florida East Coast at 216 hours. Discussion in the "Global Models Thread" on this potential system:

Well, the NWS surveyed the damage which occured in the Sam Marco area of Jacksonville as an EF-1 tornado. Fortunately, no deaths or injuries occured across the region.

However, we will have to watch very closely during Wednesday as a very potent Low Pressure system will develop along the Northern Gulf Coast region and track across NorthFlorida and Southern Georgia. The potential for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms will definitely be in place on Wednesday. The models are depicting sufficirnt wind shear and the dynamics look really favorable for potential tornadoes on Wednesday. Definitely will be watching this very closely.

a wild weather week is underway. the treasure coast is getting bombed with severe storms that initially really cranked over highlands county. lots of hail reports up to golf ball size with this activity. meanwhile, the remnants of a massive MCS that hammered southeast Louisiana earlier continues to rip east southeast across the gulf. while this activity has weakened somewhat and is expected to continue to do so it may pose some risk for strong storms later tonight. it would appear at this point the storms would land somewhere just south of tampa bay if they hold together. regardless of what happens tonight more severe potential could redevelop tomorrow as the pattern reloads. ultimately we get a huge reward in the form of much drier and cooler weather late this week into the weekend, an increasingly rare treat this time of year and almost unheard during this year's hot spring. buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Hopefully you guys down in Homestead and extreme S. Florida will get a good deal more than a 1/4" out of this broad area of low pressure and eventual front to drape over you guys. I just don't see how it shouldn't be a good deal more though. Amazing how one or two days of training can suddenly turn a deficit into "above normal" for a given point in the year. Then again, precip totals don't amount to that much for the first few months of the year, so a good 2-4" soaking might be all that's needed to do the trick and suddenly turn "drought conditions" back to normal again.

Yeah it was an abnormal EXTREMELY HOT late April day on Sunday here in South Florida! Despite the record summer-like heat the water temps. at area beaches here in NE Palm Beach County felt slightly cooler compared to the past 3-4 weeks(probably due to the recent rains). I'd say they were running around 77-78°F, felt good and refreshing with that record heat.
:sprinkler:

As for the talk of something Tropical/Sub-Tropical trying to form in the Bahamas region next week it's a skeptical wait and see situation. But since are good friend Euro is showing something(and not the GFS alone) it is worth keeping an eye on. Just for some reason I feel it likely won't materialize due to conditions being too hostile still.

Impressive Mesoscale Convective Complex over the Northeast GOM eatly this morning, moving east-southeastward. That MCS should affect the Nature Coast region later this morning. Rain already spreading into the Jax area and this will kick-off a rather wet weather period for about the next 24-36 hours. A Low Pressure area will move from the Northern Gulf Coast later today and then across the North Florida/South Georgia area late tonight into Wednesday morning. The Low Pressure will move off shore the Carolinas and move northeast and a cool front will move through and give us drier and much cooler weather will infiltrate into thr area. In fact, max temps only expected to reach the mid-upper 70s and mins will get down into the 50s across North Florida for Thursday and Friday. That definitely will be a very welcomed reprieve from this hot weather we all have been receiving. This April will go down as the warmest ever on record for several areas across the peninsula.

A local TV Met brought up that we usually see a cool & rainy Spring during El Nino Years, but my argument is that not all El Nino weather patterns are created equal. It all depends the phase of the NAO and or AO for temps here in FL.

very impressive thunderstorms in the gulf are approaching southern florida on an ESE trajectory. based on current trends these storms seem poised to land somewhere around the Lee/Charlotte county region. unless they weaken some severe weather seems possible.

No kidding.

Torrential rain all across SFL last night. Some parts of Broward recorded 2+ inches of rain. I'm now dealing with a partial roof collapse and leaks in Plantation. The worst of it rolled through here around 4am.

I saved the GOES GOM WV loop: https://imageshack.com/i/eyR10j24g

Well, the models busted big time on the rain, possible strong thunderstorms across the northern peninsula. It never panned out that way today as the models apparently really underplayed the dry air infiltrating into this region as the cold front is already moving into Northeast Florida at this hour. There may be some scattered thunderstorms later this evening down the peninsula as the front pushes through, but nothing like what the models were showing yesterday.
I
But, we are about to get some real nice weather the next few days as we head to the beginning of month of May. A nice and unseasonably cool dome of High Pressure will build into the peninsula, providing plenty of sunshine and comfortable lower humidity values and cooler temperatures compared to what we have experienced the entire spring season to this point. Max temps will only reach the mid 70s at best here in Jax for the next couple of days
Minimums are forecast to drop well into the 50s across the Northeast Florida peninsula , especially by Friday morning. I will be thoroughly enjoying this weather the next few days and enjoying this reprieve from the heat and humidity for now!!!
