The local met keeps talking about SAL entering S.FL. the end of the week. No mention by Miami NWS. Can never see the SAL images for the east coast.

I guess that Dade county was finally the focus yesterday and that the storms fizzled before they reached PBC.

We'd better get some more rain today, as it looks like it could be a while before we get more....the dreaded ridge and Atlantic dry air is coming back. I remember when OK, fine, you had a stronger east flow, but that often just meant thunderstorms in the morning instead of the afternoon. That doesn't seem to happen much anymore.

Yes NWS mentioned it in their Sunday discussion. Was also mentioned a bit earlier in this thread, copied here again.

ON WEDNESDAY...THE ATLANTIC RIDGE BEGINS TO IMPINGE ON SOUTH FL
AS THE AFOREMENTIONED TROUGH BEGINS TO LIFT OUT. ALSO, FORECAST
SAL/SAHARAN AIR LAYER TRAJECTORIES SHOW SAL ENTERING SOUTH FL ON
WEDNESDAY. WITH THE RIDGE LIKELY BISECTING SOUTH FL WED
...THE
HIGHEST CHANCE OF TSTORMS LOOKS TO BE OVER THE INTERIOR TO THE
PALM BEACHES...AND LESS LIKELY TO THE SOUTH AS SE FLOW TAKES OVER
ON AN INCREASINGLY HAZY SKY. A FEW STRONGER TSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE
INTERIOR TO THE PALM BEACHES WED DUE TO THE POTENTIAL OF STEEPING
LAPSE RATES ON THE SAL PERIPHERY, WHILE SUFFICIENT MOISTURE IS
MAINTAINED.

Patterns dont last forever but this one seems to found a home here and we can be lucky that there isnt a hurricane SE of us or that would be heading straight towards us in this pattern. We really need the rain and I was hoping that today would be the day for thunderstorms but its not happening.Im a frustrated storm2ker.

Upper level winds are blowing from the south. Doubt one would penetrate this pattern. But the way the pattern has been and will be back as. Would be a bad pattern for storms/hurricanes. Starting to remind me of the summer of 92.

Widespread heavy rain has been hammering the bay area today with considerable urban flooding in progress. a pocket of torrential rain set up over Tampa and unleashed 4-8"+ in a very short time frame...needless to say that has caused some problems.

Maybe you spoke too soon? Seems like big storms are engulfing Boca at this hour.

Although:

SYNOPTIC SCALE PATTERN LOOKS TO REMAIN FAIRLY CONSISTENT LOOKING
LONG RANGE WITH EASTERLY FLOW PERPETUATING ALONG WITH STRONG RIDGING
BEING PREDOMINANT. THIS WILL RESULT IN A FAIRLY DRY PATTERN FOR
THIS TIME OF YEAR.

Haven't seen such a deep east wind pattern so early in years. Yes it is a good thing no hurricanes are off to our southeast.

We have been finally getting some scattered thunderstorms across Northeast Florida these past couple of days. Jax Beach saw over 3 inches on Tuesday night. However, at my locale, have only measured about 1/3 of an inch of rain. Ahh, the typical summer thunderstorm pattern, some get nailed, some don't. Still need more rain. We will have a chance of scattered storms later today and tomorrow. These next couple of days will be our best shot at some rain looking at the long range unfortunately as deep layered ridging will build back in and expand across the region by early next week. This will bring hot temps, possibly some of the hottest temps potentially of the early Summer coming to our region next week. Could see mid-upper 90s across interior North Florida early next week. Plus, the upper level ridging will bring lots of subsidence and rain chances will diminish as well, with only isolated inland thundershowers possible next week. Summer heat looks to really take hold next week!

This deep easterly wind pattern is only going to get more entrenched as time goes on. We already saw this pattern last quite a while back in May too. Snippet from NWS Miami discussion.

We are going to need to watch this setup closely to see if it is around during the peak months of the hurricane season as if it is still around, would open the door for a hit from the East here in South Florida.

THE SYNOPTIC PATTERN IS STILL EXPECTED TO REMAIN FAIRLY CONSISTENT
THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND MUCH OF NEXT WEEK. THE DOMINANT FEATURES
CONTINUE TO BE DEEP LAYER RIDGING ACROSS THE WESTERN ATLANTIC AND
SOUTHEAST U.S. ALONG WITH GENERAL SOUTHEAST STEERING FLOW. THIS
WILL RESULT IN HIGHER POPS ON AVERAGE ACROSS THE INTERIOR AND WEST
WITH LESSER POPS OVER THE EAST COAST METRO AREAS.

LONG RANGE MODELS INDICATE UPPER RIDGING ONLY BECOMING STRONGER
DURING THE LATTER PORTIONS OF NEXT WEEK AND INTO NEXT WEEKEND
RESULTING IN SLIGHTLY DRIER AND WARMER CONDITIONS.

We can't buy a drop of rain here on the east coast.I've never seen it this dry before and I don't see this pattern changing anytime soon.

:uarrow: Nope. This ridging pattern is locked in place it looks all the way through next week. It has been amazing to see this pattern established so long over our region. It is dry, and hot!! Already 91.3 degrees at my locale and looking for a max temp in the mid-upper 90s. You could fry an egg on the pavement out there today for sure.

I think the atmosphere is really going to lay an egg on the west coast as a seabreeze is forming for the first time in days. beach goers and mariners need to be ready for rapid storm development which is already in progress over southwest florida and should zipper northward along the coast with time.

Yeah I agree this east wind pattern is locked in. I don't remember the last time it has been locked in for so long especially this time of year. Really curious if this ridge is around come Aug-September.

98.4 degrees at my locale currently, the hottest temp measured so far this early summer. It is blistering hot out here and with the ridge in place, it will be in the mid-upper 90s every day this week with hardly any rain in sight for the foreseeable future. What a dry, hot pattern we are in right now. Could see the mercury hit 100 degrees the next couple of days here.
