Oklahoma State Trooper Injured in Wildfire

#1 Postby SamSagnella » Sun Mar 16, 2008 6:55 pm

Sounds like a nightmare to me.
GREER COUNTY, Okla. -- An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper working to help people evacuate from a wildfire in southwest Oklahoma suffered second-degree burns when the blaze surrounded him.

Josh Tinsley was taken to Integris Medical Center in Oklahoma City with second-degree burns over 14 percent of his body. Authorities said he was going door to door in Greer County trying to warn people about the blaze.

The fire caught up to him, surrounding his car, and he had to run two miles through the fire just to get to safety.

Tinsley's wife said she is thankful he is alive.

"I am glad I still have my husband still today, and I know he will make a full recovery with the grace of God, and I thank (God) for him being here still," said Shelly Tinsley.

Josh Tinsley is expected to be released from the hospital in the next few days.
