...would there be a tropical rainforest on the windward slope, just like what we see in Hawaii?

Except the Easterlies in Florida are somewhat seasonal.

If only Guadalupe Peak in Texas was located just North of Amarillo, than our state would have a ski resort.
If everything was the same, except it was a couple hundred million years ago, and there were mountains thousands of feet tall running east-West across Oklahoma, they'd be growing sugar cane and oranges in Dallas.

If the Guadalupe Mountains were near Amarillo, and not between Odessa and El Paso, El Capitan would be a black diamond trail.
