One year ago today - Super Tuesday tornado outbreak...

#1 Postby CrazyC83 » Thu Feb 05, 2009 11:36 am

It was one year ago today (February 5) that the deadliest tornado outbreak in nearly a quarter century took place across parts of the South. It began around 3 pm and continued for about 16 straight hours. Definitely was a tragic event, but had its own silver linings (Union University, Nashville).

At this point, there was a sense of dread - the high risk was issued and everything was coming together...

It was about this time last February 5 that the first watches were coming out and cells were starting to develop. But it was around 3-4 pm that the tornadoes really kicked in.

Channel 4 (WSMV) the NBC station here in Nashville, came up and did a "Surviving the Storm" event here on the one year anniversary of the Lafayette EF-3 tornado. I have pictures and will put those and a write-up on my blog later on today.
