We have just gone through two traumatic months (April and May). Is there any sign this will continue into June, or do we FINALLY catch a break? It looked like we had just caught a good break, but this outbreak really blew that thought away, sadly.
I have a bad feeling for June too. The northern Plains and Great Lakes have really yet to be tested this year, and the Northeast is overdue as well. There are so many heavily populated areas in that region from 40-50N latitude and from 100W longitude to the Atlantic. I fear that June will be the month that puts 2011 into truly historic territory, and Canada may break records as well if this trend continues.

Last year, 8 of the 13 violent tornadoes happened after June 1 (6 in June, 1 in August, 1 in November). If that pace were to be maintained in 2011, there would be about 50 EF4 or EF5 tornadoes this year.

Now five EF5 tornadoes confirmed with one other still in my mind for possible EF5 strength.
