Vote For Your Favorite Kind of Snow

As the heat index here in the midwest once again passes the century mark, I'm feeling a longing for the white stuff!

I would like to order mine wet and sticky, thank you, but not slushy. It looks so pretty on trees and rooftops and doesn't blow off as easily as the powdery kind. And I like playing snow baseball with the kids.

Although the dry, sugary stuff is a lot easier to clean off the sidewalk and makes great snow cones.

So, tell us how you like yours. You poor souls down south can vote too if you've had snow experience. If not, my condolences.

What a question this is Donna?????........LOL..........Well this is not exactly a easy one beeing a snowlover.............However i am leaning your way with the Stickly big flakes!.................Only exception would be if it was a snowstorm with wind then i like te more powdery stuff because it drifts better!!!!!!!!!..........Oh well i guess you can call it a tie so to speak!!! BTW did you expect any other answer from me;)!...........lol............I will add that i dont care as much for the slushy stuff as well unless of course its late April when any kind of snow becomes rare in these parts and is appericated by me.................

Here I am, from "Snowless Florida," but a New England Weather Enthusiast as well. With that said, I like both kinds (powdery and sticky), but lean more toward and voted for "powdery."

The "sticky snow" is harder to walk through, too.

One lump sum payment? WOW!! :o That would be one heck of a storm! Actually I will take half in one payment, and the rest spread throughout the season.

Tom - I agree completely. Going through a major snowstorm without being able to post or chat at storm2k would indeed take a lot of the fun out of it.

LOL Harry ... Actually I got the idea for this thread from reading your story about the '96 storm when your car was buried in your yard, but you were able to drive it right out because it was so light and powdery.

Lol....We had a storm like that (I think it was in '01.) NWS kept track of the snowfall totals for the storm, it lasted from 24 Dec to 1 Jan...Montague reported an incredible 127 inches from the storm (official NWS snowfall data here- http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/buf/lakeffect/lake0102/b/stormbsum.html
About the snow- I have to say I like the powder...its great if you want to ski

I would lean towards powder since it is the best for skiing. Hey nystate, which resorts do you ski around there? I have been to several resorts in the northeast, and usually the conditions are pretty good. Of course my trip to Colorado was the best since there was superb powder conditions!

I usually see snow once a year when my family and I go on a skiing trip and it's usually the deep powdery kind of snow. However, it's sooo much better when we get our .5" of wet snow down here in south Louisiana!

Well, the closest place to ski for me is Dry Hill, its about a five minute drive. I usually go there the most, just because it is so close. Also there is Snow Ridge, its a little drive, about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, but the hills are bigger and it is bigger overall. I'm not even sure you can call these places hills when you compare them to Colorado!

Good point! Colorado definitely has some great skiing! The best powder conditions I have experienced in the northeast was actually at Gore Mountain. That is a really nice resort to visit since it has a gondola, and some really good trails!
