Snowball fight! (July 8) [and July 19]

#1 Postby Scott Patterson » Tue Jul 08, 2014 10:49 pm

Not that great of a photo, but yesterday my wife and I had a snowball fight (we walked up the Rabbit Ears from the pass where there is still snow). It was 96F in the valley so was a good idea.

It's been pretty hot (for here) lately:

At least when it's hot here, you can get somewhere much cooler pretty quick. There's always at least some snow in the mountains. Believe it or not, some of the mountain roads around here are still snowbound and not open yet.

Saturday, July 19, was a 93F day in town.

We decided to hike up Black Mountain which is just north of town in order to cool off.

We had another really refreshing snowball fight up there.

It does get fairly warm here, but it's nice that we can escape the heat with only a very short trip!
