HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE QUAD CITIES IA IL
505 AM CST SAT NOV 01 2003
...EXTENDED PERIODS OF RAIN STARTING TONIGHT THROUGH NEXT WEDNESDAY
RESULTING IN WIDESPREAD MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN AMOUNTS...
A STATIONARY FRONT WILL DEVELOP FROM CENTRAL KANSAS INTO NORTHERN
INDIANA TONIGHT AND MOVE VERY LITTLE INTO WEDNESDAY. A SERIES OF
DISTURBANCES WILL MOVE ALONG THIS FRONT PRODUCING PERIODS OF RAIN
WITH POSSIBLY A FEW THUNDERSTORMS. THE UPPER LEVEL FLOW WILL
REMAIN PARALLEL ALONG THE FRONT...CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT FAVORABLE
FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF RAIN OVER THE SAME AREAS.
GIVEN THE PERSISTENT NATURE OF THIS SYSTEM...MUCH OF THE UPPER
MIDWEST WILL ACCUMULATE HEAVY RAIN TOTALS OF TWO INCHES OR MORE
BY WEDNESDAY WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS OF UP TO FIVE INCHES POSSIBLE.
RAIN AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF THREE INCHES COULD RESULT IN
FLOODING OF AREA STREAMS...TRIBUTARIES...AND LOW LYING LOCATIONS.
AT THIS TIME...THE AREAS MOST AT RISK APPEAR TO BE NORTH OF
HIGHWAY 34. (I am, yay!) HOWEVER...A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY EXISTS WITH
WHERE THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL POSITION ITSELF INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.
ANY CHANGE IN FRONTAL POSITIONING COULD IMPACT THE LOCATION
OF THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL AMOUNTS.
INDIVIDUALS IN FLOOD PRONE AND LOW LYING LOCATIONS SHOULD MONITOR
CONDITIONS...AND STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR LOCAL RADIO OR
TELEVISION STATIONS FOR FURTHER UPDATES REGARDING THE POTENTIAL
FOR HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLOODING.
Not that I enjoy it being constantly cloudy, but we sure do need the moisture, the grass has been yellowish for a while now! Let's hope this one delivers for me!
Drought relief headed my way!

It certainly looks this way Jacki which is very good news for your area.....................Come late next week and especially the following is when the pattern should start to change a little with colder air making its way towards you which i think by the 15th or so you may have a shot at some snow?????? Have to see how that trend continues but it does look to be cooling down as we get deeper into November....................This same system is expected to be close to me as well but more so to my north............Yesterday it was in the mid 70s and sun and today its drizzle, foggy and cloudy with temps in the 50s..............

Glad to know that someone is getting the drought relief they need. We are around 3" behind for the year still and I hate going into winter with that much of a precip. deficit. :o
