More Rain for SE Texas

#1 Postby Guest » Wed Feb 11, 2004 6:16 am

Well I have been up since 3:30 a.m. - watching a very heavy line of storms move across the Houston area. They are now in my area - bringing rain, wind and thunder and lightning.

How much longer are these storms going to last?

The storms-just for an hour or two. The rain-GET THE CANOE!

They just mentioned wintry precip on Channel 2 for tomorrow night for our northern neighbors. Think we're gonna be pretty much water-bound for the next 24 hours. 1-3" normal, 3-5" HIGHLY probable. Soon as it gets light out I'll check my rain gage. Been pouring here since I got home last night. :grr:

4" as of 6:00 AM this morning, just checked it. Parts of the yard are under water but doesn't look bad yet. Pond isn't overflowing so my fish are still here!

Okay I just went outside with flashlight and looked at rain gauge - mine is sitting on 3 1/2 inches of rain since last night.

Yard is flooded - water standing everywhere. Local news is predicting anywhere from 3-5 inches south of I-10 - that's me!!!

Let's hope they are WRONG>

My area is also getting rain a la carte, the Red River area is getting most of it.

I'm up towards Conroe and if Frank Billingsley's forecast verifies, I might see some sleet come Friday. I stray snow flake would be nice. Ok, I'm asking for too much aren't I? :( lol
I have not checked my rain guage but my front drive is under water. My driveway is a gravel road. As of late yesterday evening I had 2 inches in my rain guage. The rain hasn't stopped since so I don't know how much we have gotten now. More on the way!!!!

Mostly mist here now although looking to my southwest on radar, looks like I'm gonna get hammered again.

Living in a swamp is so much fun.

Thanks for the radar. Mist now changed to more rain. Looks like SGale is gonna get some pretty quick as well. We'll all be floating into the gulf before long.

YUCK!!!! I'm living up to my S2K name today. It was a heavy shower during my walk home for lunch and then torrential during my walk back.

I emptied 5" out of the old standby rain guage this am adn it hasn't been more than 2 weeks since I emptied it before so we obviously have had more than 1"!!!!! :grr: :grr: :grr:

it is pouring here now.
try living on a mudd hill or excuse me..under normal conditions its a dirt road.It will take a severe drought to return my road to normal if is such a thing.I've done been stuck too today..no problem going down...its the up.I could use a canoee for the bottom though cause the "low laying roadway"is under water...ankle deep.
rain gauge is now sitting at 4.21 and still falling. my hill...after getting pulled down it with 3 chains was a river flowing downward& off into the woods.water is in huge pools all over yard.it was squishy when walking in it yesterday.I really hope we get a 1 day break like they are calling for tomorrow.I need a severe drought right now.

If I was wise....I would collect tons of rain barrels and sell the rain.I'd be rich

We've had about 3" total here within the last 24 hours...local river is getting close to flood stage. I feel like a fish (galoop, galoop (little fishy noises!))

It's hardly stopped raining since Monday evening. Thankfully, a lot of it is light to moderate rain or this would be much worse. Pine Island Bayou is a few feet over flood stage and still rising.

Looks like about 60% chance of precipitation on Friday with temps in the 30's all day......

Unfortunately...no
NWS (and of course local) forecasts have been trending colder each day though. Right now KFDM shows 38 for a high on Friday. They have consistently been lowering our highs each day as the day gets closer though. Nothing to get excited over, but something to watch.

Here's the site:http://www.kfdm1.com/weather.shtml

njoynit...are you in Beaumont too?

Oh wow, since I posted that, they updated the forecast from this morning and changed it to 80% for Friday and a mix just to our north for Saturday. Hmmm

Lucky you. I thought with temps like that you might be in store for some. Should I honk for you or will that jinx it?
