SEVERE WX UPDATE 3:15 PM EST

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon across central and eastern Texas and in Louisiana as well. The main threats with these thunderstorms will be hail 3/4 inch in diameter or larger, thunderstorm wind gusts to 58 mph or greater, and isolated tornadoes.

At this time two severe weather watches exists. The first severe wx watch is a tornado watch in effect for eastern and southeastern Louisiana including New Orleans and southern Mississippi including Gulfport in effect until 3 PM CST. This means in addition to severe thunderstorms, the potential is there for isolated tornadoes as well.

The second severe wx watch is in effect for central Texas including Austin, and is a severe thunderstorm watch box in effect until 8 PM cst. Severe thunderstorms with large hail have been reported already in central Texas and large hail and damaging winds are expected this afternoon and evening for the central lone star state.

At this time as of 3:15 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Burnet County, Texas in effect until 4 PM EST/3 PM CST. At 2:14 PM CST, doppler weather radar indicated a severe thunderstorm 10 miles northwest of Meadowlakes or about 4 miles northeast of Kingsland moving east at 20 mph.

This severe thunderstorm will be about 6 miles north of Marble at 2:30 PM CST.

Hail up to golfball size 1.75" in diameter has been reported with this storm near Buchanon Sam. If you're in the path of this supercell thunderstorm, put your car in a garage and seek sturdy shelter immediately.

Severe thunderstorms produce hail 3/4 inch in diameter or larger, damaging winds of 58 mph or greater, deadly lightning, and very heavy rains. Tornadoes can also develop suddenly from severe thunderstorms. If threatened by this severe weather condition in your area, seek sturdy shelter!!!
