4:30 PM EST severe wx update

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon across central and eastern Texas and in Louisiana as well. The main threats with these thunderstorms will be hail 3/4 inch in diameter or larger, thunderstorm wind gusts to 58 mph or greater, and isolated tornadoes.

The tornado watch that was in effect for southern Mississippi and southeast Louisiana has expired at 3 PM CST. However isolated severe thunderstorms are possible in Louisiana and southern Mississippi through the rest of the afternoon.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for central Texas including Austin in effect until 8 PM cst. Severe thunderstorms with large hail have been reported already in central Texas and large hail and damaging winds are expected this afternoon and evening for the central lone star state.

There are also severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for the following counties in Texas...

Burnet and Blanco until 3:45 PM CST.

Very large hail up to golfball size is expected with this severe thunderstorm in central Texas. Over an hour ago, golfball size hail was reported in Burnet County, TX.

A severe thunderstorm warning is also in effect for the following parishes in Louisiana until 4 PM CST.

Iberville, Pointe Coupee, and West Baton Rouge Prishes in southeast Louisiana.

At 3:12 PM CST, severe thunderstorms with Penny size hail was located about 13 miles west of Ramah, moving east at 35 mph. Large hail and damaging winds are expected with this storm. Another update in 30 minutes with this!!!
