WILD NIGHT -- BARELY ESCAPED.........
tornadoes about midnight. Head at least one roar over our house along the GOM west central Fla. EOC said at 1:30 a.m. lots of damage, no reports of injuries "yet." More to come. Hope other S2Kers in the area are OK.

Interesting, Dixie, there haven't been any Severe Weather Warnings out for this activity.
I heard thunder to my northwest between 12:30 am Eastern and 1:15 am Eastern... had some moderate to heavy rain twice in a ten to twenty minute period around 1:00 am Eastern. Lights flickered at the moment of the loudest rumble.

Thank you Stephanie and Donna.
There have been over 7,000 lightnings strikes in the two hour period between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm Eastern across the country... the activity is stretched out from north-central Florida westward into the eastern and even central Gulf of Mexico, thus the activity is quite dense.
A smaller, more rounded cluster across southern Texas is a far cry from this several hundred mile, narrow but large cluster I mentioned above.

As I mentioned on another thread. Here in Osceola County, on my way to school.. I eyed the clouds while riding the bus, It looked as if a funnel cloud was trying to form around the Disney area.
I could be wrong.. But I have been correct about tornadoes before. I watched a tornado near Disney form in 1996, I saw 1 touch down near a county softball complex in 1999 and I saw the big 1 in 1998.
Very nervous.. but keeping my cool here in the land of the tourists lol
