DEVELOPING WEATHER SITUATION IN FLORIDA
I hate to start a new thread. {Please don't kill me} But I think we have a developing weather situation here in Central Florida.
NWS Melbourne graphics have us under a MODERATE risk for winds hail and even tornadoes today. Tornadoes are even the main threat from our storms.
They even said they'll be doing an update on NOAA radio at 2pm eastern. If any of you get the update.. please pass it along.
I'm a little scared as I always get. I'm actually a little excited too because I like watching these develop. I just pray that it doesn't get too strong.
To all other Central Florida posters.. stay safe.. I'll keep checking in as the afternoon goes on.. By the way.. here's the text of the 1st warning of the day.. It was for Orange and Seminole County

Looks like there is a continued threat through tomorrow for severe weather across the Peninsula as well as very heavy rainfall (up to 5inches) and possible coastal wind/surf problems with MECS/Nor'easter...

THIS ACTIVITY...THICKENING CLUSTERS OF DEEP CONVECTION ARE NOW

TORNADOES/DAMAGING WINDS MAY OCCUR ALONG THE WARM FRONT OVER THE FL

This lull will last at least 6 to 8 hours in total... with the forecast calling for the potential of strong to severe storms late tonight into tomorrow. 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm will be one to four hours before late evening and overnight.
At the moment I am getting a moderate to heavy rain with some lightning flashes in the distance, an occassional rumble of thunder can be heard (obviously thundering with lightning).

Ok.. so that explains the lull a little better. 6 to 8 hours sounds about right.. Guess while we sleep the thunder will rumble..
I have to stop at the store on my way home. Maybe I'll pick up some batteries for my weather radio. I think it runs on a 9 volt.
Only problem is I don't know if it'd work lol My 3 year old nephew screwed up the antenna like last year lol

I am usually up during the overnight hours, so will be awake even more so knowing that the chance of thunderstorms (even weak) are in the forecast.
You don't have a NOAA Weather Radio that doesn't run on batteries. I have three or four of them... use my police scanner just about exclusively. No need of using the others most of the time.
