New PBS/NOVA Tornado Special in March

#1 Postby azskyman » Thu Mar 18, 2004 9:04 am

Just got news released from Tom Grazulis, one of this country's foremost tornado experts and historians, of an upcoming PBS/NOVA special entitled "The Hunt for the Supertwister."

It is scheduled for airing on March 30th, he said. Looks to be a long overdue update on the state of tornado warning efficiency and other aspects of tornado awareness.

Here's the link about the show...

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/tornado/

I've known Tom and his work for many years. If he's excited about it, then it will surely be worth viewing.

Just watched it myself...after recording it earlier. Some very good footage, and also a very good upate on the state of tornado detection.

Interesting points about the need to get more data from the ground upward to the base of the clouds.

That's where observers are still VERY important.

I loved it!!!! Two thumbs up. The computer imagery was amazing. Technology is coming along, but we still have a ways to go.
