Washington County 911 is reporting that flooding has crested over a dam on private property that runs along East Simmons Road in South Strabane Township. East Simmons Road runs off of Route 519, between Route 40 and Interstate 70.

I've been flipping through all the area Pittsburgh Channels this morning and not have found two stories the same. One station is saying that the dam didn't break, but instead over flowed...another station is saying the dam did break...and I have missed the third station. I'm hoping to find out more info at noon when the news is on. If things couldn't get any worse...we are running the chance of more severe weather today. A severe thunderstorm watch has just been posted to our west in OH, IN, MI, Lake Erie, and Lake Michigan. I just think we need a week of dry weather to dry up. But it doesnt look like that is going to be possible anytime soon.

This is what I found out from watching the noon news... The dam didn't break, but they are working on the dam to reinforce it. The materials that have been brought in to reinforce the dam have been washed away. The dam is located on private property. The area received almost 3 inches of rain in just about 2 hours time this morning. Other sections of Washington County also experienced flooding from these storms. To make matters worse...another round of severe weather is likely this afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised to see a flood watch put later today as the storms in Indiana continue to march eastward.
