TWC did it again!

#1 Postby coriolis » Fri Jun 25, 2004 12:28 am

Flipping thru the channels tonight, I paused at TWC which was airing Storm Stories. A severe thunderstom watch was scrolling across the bottom. Do you think they'd break to show radar or something? Nooooooooo. They didn't even show the local at the 8's.

get used to it lol.....for the past year or so its been like that, thats why i don't even bother with them because our public access channel has live zoom in radar loops and temp. The Weather channel didn't even predict rain on wednesday night they thought it would be clear to partly cloudy. We ended up with .52 of an inch of rain??? lol

Nope, it's true Ed - I've learned - there is loss
of life and mass destruction of property that tends
to occur during "Storm Stories" repeats....

...er....ahem! Did I say....repeats?

They really disappoint me. Time was, I rushed to see their coverage. Now I rush past the channel instead

And that's why I'm so thankful for the internet, because I don't have to try and get weather info from TWC anymore :D .

They need to rename it to "The Storm Stories Channel". TWC is to weather, like MTV is to music videos now... maybe they should make a "TWC2" and show some actual realtime weather reports and forecasts.

I hardly ever even go to the tube for my weather info, unless my area has like tornado warnings. I never go to TWC anymore; their forecasts are very inaccurate (too general), and, of course, Storm BORIES during major outbreaks/hurricanes. I feel bad for the veteran meteorologists/OCMs (if there are any left?) for the horrible management they HAVE to endure.

The Internet brings me real-time (or close to that) warnings, forecasts ,statements, etc anyways, plus I don't have to see P. Allen Smith's gardening or Danny Lipford's (spelling?) home maintenance segments when a probable tornado or a huge snow storm is on my way.

I agree, TWC is nothing but a big joke now.

Has anyone on here read the book:

"The Weather Channel: The Improbable Rise Of A Media Phenomenon" ?

You learn quite a lot about how their systems work. You'll also learn about how they transformed/jolted the national weather service into action and standardization for all of its products.

The TWC STAR system varies from location to location and some of them do interrupt and display additional information.

Also, in my opinion, if a warning comes across your screen thats relevant, I personally wouldn't be hanging around waiting to see what's on the TV screen.
