Post your June rainfall here...

#1 Postby Dan » Wed Jun 30, 2004 10:03 am

It's been quite an active month for those in the southern states. I thought it would be cool to see exactly how much rain everyone has received in the month of June.

Here at my house, I have picked up 6.79 inches of rain.

I haven't kept a running record that I can add up at the house(which I should-where is my automatic weather station???wah!!). but if my recollection serves me right I am somewhere right around 12" for the month. Official for Houston, with showers on the way today is I believe 16.46" only second to June 2001 with Allison which was an official 19.21".

The total rainfall here is 10.39 inches. If the rain keeps up, we'll top the record of the wettest Month of June. Right now, we're currently in 2nd place. The record, 11.28 inches of rain, was set in 1928.

I haven't kept records for the month, but in the middle of the month we had a small cluster of thunderstorms sit stationary and dump almost 3". Today, we've had in excess of an inch with a very strong cell and the rain continues up to this point ...

I'd estimate at LEAST 6" of rain for the month ... and it's VERY HARD to believe that the Charleston airport (NWS) has had only 2.64" for June... wow! Waterfront Park has had ONLY 1.87"!!

Other locations, depending on where you're located has had as much as 10"+ of rain ... very highly localized bullseyes of highs and lows.

Drought? What drought?

Anyway, the storms brought over 1½" of rain, and it just finally stopped about 10 minutes ago ...

That should bring the estimated totals up to 8"+ this month.

Houston's "official" for the month was 18.42" second only to June 2001, TS Allison at 19.46". At the house we had another .43" yesterday. Finally see dryer air moving infrom the West.

Thats the story of around here. While you have had that 4.80 i didnt even get a inch. :( All a matter of about 20 to 30 miles from here and the totals go up to about that 4.80.
