IL vs. Panhandle

#1 Postby pawlee » Fri Jul 16, 2004 12:22 am

just wondering for anyone who might be up on such information, has IL and in particular N IL beat out the regions of TX, OK or AR for ranking among the highest number of tornadoes this season? granted i live in IL but in my time here, i have heard far more about activity in this state versus others this season.

I don't have any information readily handy but I'm sure that IL has quite likely beaten TX on several occasions, due to the fact, that certain weather patterns dictate TX goes bone dry, while ridge riders around a parent blocking upper high guides storm clusters after storm clusters into IL ... and I still believe that the Plainfield tornado is the strongest August tornado of record in the U.S., let alone IL ...

Let me link you up to some information that might help out ...
