The state of Iowa has recently broke the record for most tornadoes in a year. The previous record was 105 set in 2001. Through Sept 8 Iowa has had 110 tornadoes, far surpassing the 30 year average of 45.

Tornadoes per month:

April - 5
May - 47
June - 28
July - 3
August - 17
September - 10

Haha, yes. It has been pretty busy here this year, although most of it has been in western or central Iowa this year. Several days of large tornado outbreaks, I believe we had 3 F3 rated tornadoes, 2 of them on the same day, as well as several F2's. A town in north central Iowa had every building damaged when an F3 tornado came through, Bradgate, IA.
