Got some mositure from Javier here in Lake Havasu City tonight. The lightning was really going off and still is right now 11pm. Drove out to the lake edge tonight and captured quite a few lightning images. Here is a couple I took...

Most impressive photos, I live in Riverside,CA, awesome photos. We got nothing here, but I know storms that go up near the river, and some are fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
Its 12:36am right now, it looksl ike on Radar(Gibson Ridge Software) thunderstorms are forming to your SW and will move over within the next hour and a half. These look rather powerful!

Your welcome. It's storming pretty good outside as I type right now. I've seen lightning flashing up in the clouds ever second for hours. It's amazing. Just checked radar at 12:20am and got some severe weather headed this way. I'll keep ya posted.

Very cool! I love lightning storms like that! Means they mean business. By the way. I noticed the radar you are using. Please, by all means, use the new gibson ridge software level 3 data if you haven't already. Its a free download, zoom radar, smoothing radar if you have the right video card, and also street level radar! storm atributes, tells you the base, height, shear, hail size, etc. Go here for it, youll like it if you haven't! thats what im using to track the storms near you. Might even think about taking the avalanche out Tornado Chasing in AZ tomorrow.
heres the link to the software site.

never heard of it, but I will give it a try thanks. NWS just issued a severe thunderstorm warning for my area. It is really going off outside. Winds are calm right now but the lightning is flashing outside every second. It's amazing....

really cool, yes, about the software, you will absolutely love it. Its a must have, and evens tells you in countdown form when the radar will refresh. the storm tracks on it are showing Parker,AZ on the river about to just get hammered. Also a storm near you has 24/ks shear, so you know theres potential for tornadoes. Reason why im heading out in a few hrs for a possible outbreak in Arizona. Maybe be a 1995 event

not sure what 30/ks means but all I know last night between 10pm and 3am it was going off. I witness 1000's and 1000's of lightning strikes/flashes. Most of the lightning was up in clouds. It was flashing about 5 to 10 times a second and that lasted well over 4 hours last night. Never seen anything quite like it before. Continueous lightning flashes up in the clouds. What causes that? Anyway here is a photo I took just outside my home right before the storm got here. Didn't get much rain about 0.18 inches

the software was ok. I really like intellicast the best but I'll have to play around with the other software first and then I might like it.

The Sun Sets on Javier
This is a shot I took at sunset here today as the back edge of Javier's cloud shield began passing overhead. Haven't had any good opportunities here for lightning shots in recent years so most of my lightning is on video.

I saw something on TV last week about Megalightning... looks like that first shot might have indicated some megalightning was involved in that storm. I'd never heard the term before, and the new field of research on it is fascinating. There are two primary types they talked about in the program: sprites and blue jets.
