It's pretty small. Huge plume of steam. It's certainly no 1980.

Technically... it's only a steam explosion right now, not an eruption, although that has to be imminent.

CBS news interrupted regular TV, says it's in the "early" stages of erupting, so determining how large it will be is still to be seen although they're fairly certain it will not be as big as the 1980 explosion.

Nothing close to that headline. Be careful you'll make people think it had an eruption - which it didn't.

Mt St Helens just experienced a small steam eruption of low magnitude that produced a white cloud above the volcano. It has since stopped.

I hope a volcanic eruption isn't right behind because those TV crews are way too close...

AT 1225 PM..A BLACK BEAR WAS SPOTTED ABOUT A MILE AWAY FROM MT ST HELENS.. REPORTEDLY CREEPING TOWARDS THE VOLCANO

THE BEAR SHOULD BE AT THE VOLCANO BY 2PM PT.

THE NWS HAS ISSUED A BEAR WARNING UNTIL 130 PM PT AND A BEAR WATCH TILL 9PM PT TONIGHT
