Rain in Southern Palm Beach County

#1 Postby fci » Sat Oct 02, 2004 7:16 pm

We have had heavy rain and thuderstorms here since about 5:00 PM.
It appears to be training over a narrow band.
Pool is overflowing and lightning is constant.
WOW!

Hi fci,

Back in late spring or early summer when the Bermuda high first flexed its muscles, a deep easterly flow developed across the southwest Atlantic into south Florida and a streamer of showers and embedded thunderstorms stretched from Grand Bahama Island to southeast Florida on a daily basis. Well it is back and it should occur again Sunday and Monday as deep easterly flow continues. The 850 mb flow will be 080-090 degrees and that will most likely send the plume into Palm Beach county. Doppler radar showed a Sunday storm total of 3.7 inches over the coastal areas of south-central Palm Beach county. There was a little extra boost of moisture in the atmosphere on Sunday as a tropical wave passed well to the south and models show a slightly drier atmosphere Sunday, but still we should see the plume once again, especially during the afternoon and early evening. 8-)
