The company I work for has a tornado policy which states that if a tornado warning is issued for our area, we are to evacuate window offices, etc. Enforcement of the policy lies with Ms. HR Manager.

Yesterday, 2 tornado warnings were issued and I emailed the notifications to Ms. HR Manager. She ignored the first warning. With the second one, she called me up and demanded to know if there was a website she could go to for verification. Uuuhhhhh..... the National Weather Service?

Her response to the second warning was absolutely priceless. She stationed the HR department employees in front of the westward-looking windows. Not only a direct violation of the company policy that she, herself, wrote, but an utterly senseless action to take in the face of a tornado outbreak! Talk about the inmates running the asylum......

I can hardly wait to see what she makes of today's severe weather. Send the HR ladies out on the roof with lightning rods perhaps? Have them wade in fire-ant-infested flood waters with the media folks to act as flood gauges? I have to laugh or I'll cry. LOL!

I used to work for a corporation that wouldn't even acknowledge severe weather and would make us stay at our desks and keep answering calls during a tornado warning. Whenever this would happen I'd develop an overwhelming urge to go to the bathroom.

And these would be the same people who, no doubt, would raise holy H-E-Double-Toothpicks if their children were treated the same way in the public schools. Haven't had any bathroom urges during the warnings, but the stairs look awfully inviting!

Hey VB - I like your idea of combining the lightning rod and flood gauge into one. Since Buffalo bayou is right behind our office in West Houston, Ms. HR Manager might actually do some good for once...

Is Her name Marci P.??? She was are HR Manager until she had a nervous breakdown and went out on stress leave then quit.

I have a portable weather radio and I had a supervisor like that so I set it on "loud" and on "alert" and so of course the broadcast was heard by most people in the office.

Mass disobedience is difficult for a terminally stupid HR manager to ignore...

The sad thing is that our office is primarily populated with Europeans and Californians who have zero tornado education and don't care to acquire one. Warnings mean nothing to them no matter how much we try to educate. I guess it'll take an up close and personal experience before it sinks in.
