F2 tornado hits Slidell La

#1 Postby MGC » Wed Nov 24, 2004 1:12 pm

What a night! I finally fell asleep at 3:30am or so. I was watching live coverage of numerous doppler indicated tornadoes. The thunder woke me again around 5am. Anyway, a F2 twister hit Slidell last night. Lots of damage but no one was hurt. According to the news, the damage swath was 50 yards or so. Another twister touched down on the west bank of the New Orleans area.......MGC

I think there was a report of a subdivison where 4 people were injured or something.

Sad to report that one person did die yesterday. However, remember in years past that so many others have died in simliar storm setups. Praise God for the advances in forecasting and warnings!!

Was in Slidell this afternoon and drove by the area hit by the tornado. Several homes were destroyed with the second floor ripped off. Many other homes suffered major roof damage. Tornado hit about one-quarter mile from the NWS office in Slidell.......MGC
