Flood Watches issued for Ohio

#1 Postby ohiostorm » Mon Jan 03, 2005 3:11 pm

Flood watches have been issued for much of Central and Northern Ohio including my area for today and tonight. Creeks are at bankfull from previous rains and will continue to rise today with rainfall totals adding up to close to 2". Depending on the track of the mid week system, we could end up with much more rainfall totals by th end of the week. Not a good situation for us.

Statement as of 2:25 PM EST on January 03, 2005

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from late Tuesday night to Thursday
morning...

The National Weather Service in Cleveland OH has issued a Winter
Storm Watch.

Expect light rain Tuesday evening to change to sleet and freezing
rain after midnight Tuesday night. Expect the sleet and freezing rain
to be heavy at times Wednesday and Wednesday evening. Some snow may
also mix in at times during the day Wednesday. Before the
precipitation changes to rain Wednesday night... significant ice
accumulations of greater than half an inch is possible.

A Winter Storm Watch is issued when severe winter weather is
possible... but not imminent. At the time... there is a potential for
significant snow and/or ice accumulations. Tree limbs and power lines
may be downed due to the significant icing. Power outages are also
possible. Driving and walking conditions Wednesday and Wednesday
night may also become hazardous... so it is important to monitor the
latest forecasts.

Yeah just read that. None issued from Pittsburgh yet. Dont think it will get this far south. But that means we will get all rain which isn't good either. Either way we are pretty much screwed!

More flood watches issued for my entire area for Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon. Another couple inches possible. Looks like we wont get the wintry precip this time around again.
