Tornado Watch

Here we go again in southern California. Looks like a decent threat of waterspouts moving onto land and becoming brief tornadoes today, along with a good threat of hail and as well strong thunderstorm downburst winds.

Could actually be more than just spouts moving onshore as they had two tornadoes in Sacramento yesterday and that p;ace is over 100 miles inland and behind some hills-the Central Valley can get some nasties once in a while. Convective Outlook has part of SW AZ in a slight risk today but much of that area is off limits to US Citizens because of Military Installations and a remote National Monument that only illegals have access to. Tomorrow's outlook is better for us honest chasers since SPC suggests that we could see action closer to us and in areas not restricted for illegals only. In 1995 about this time in February we had a similar situation that produced large hail and funnel clouds in Cochise County.

According to the reported damage, they were low end F1's meanwhile you are under a tornado warning right now.

We are experiencing some incredibily strong rains right now...the ride home from picking the kids up from school there was water flowing across all the roads in the low points...

Thunder heard here as we are under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the next few minutes too right now.

My son just called while driving home near Torrance, California, and said it is not raining at his location, but he can see storms inland toward the mountains and north toward Malibu.

WOW, what a nasty character this cutoff low has been near L.A.!

Yes indeed Steve...there was a waterspout off of Malibu already today and they say more are likely...your kids doing ok through this Steve?
