TESSA 2005 Texas Storm Conference

I attended the TESSA 2005 Texas Storm Conference Saturday and it was GREAT!! There were about 400 people in attendence from all over the country. I was part of the first ever "SUPER" Storm Spotters training group! :D

David Finfrock - NBC5 (KXAS-TV) Senior Meteoroligist - Ft Worth Texas

Gary Woodall - WCM, National Weather Service - Ft Worth TX
New this year is the first TESSA Super Storm Spotter Session, which will provide the highest level of training available to storm spotters anywhere in the country. The session will be presented by Ft. Worth NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist Gary Woodall. Mr. Woodall's presentation is titled, "Visual, Environmental, and Radar Characteristics of Severe Storms." The environmental ingredients required for severe storms and methods for spotters to identify the presence of these ingredients will be discussed

Martin Lisius - Founder and Chairman of the Texas Severe Storms Association, Pro Storm chaser and Photographer, Produced Storm training video "StormWatch" with NWS. Founder of StormStock and Tempest Tours Storm Chasing Expeditions.

Roger Edwards - Storm Prediction Center, Norman Oklahoma
Forecasting storm behavior, Strategy for optimally safe viewing before storms develop, and intercept mode. 20 years of Storm Chasing and part of several NSSL intercept teams over the years.

Alan Mollar - Senior Meteoroligist, National Weather Sevice Ft Worth TX.
The Art and Science of hand analysis for Tornado Forecasting. Allen participated in the first official chase program, the 1972 Tornado Intercept Project (TIP). Also to his credits are the 1985 FSL forecast experiment, 1986 National microburst symposium, 1991 Tornado Symposium, 1995 VORTEX project.

Louis Wicker - National Severe Storms Laboratory, Norman OK.
The Role of Technology in Storm science, Forecasts, and Warnings. His Ph.D research was one of the first computer simulations that simultaneously contained both the severe storm and the tornado. Louis also helped in the developments in the late 1980s such as Doppler Radar and rapid scan satellite, and also the improvement of storm forecast and warnings.
