Flood Watch / Flood Statement
Expires 9:00 AM EDT on June 29, 2005
Statement as of 2:43 PM EDT on June 28, 2005
... Flash Flood Watch in effect until late Tuesday night...
The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for central North Carolina until 5 am EDT Wednesday
Showers and thunderstorms will produce very heavy rainfall over
much of the area tonight. The storms will be slow moving and
could move repeatedly over the same areas. Localized rainfall
amounts over 2 inches in an hour will be possible. This can lead
to flooding of creeks and streams... roads and Highways... and low
lying areas.
Act quickly if flash flooding is observed or a Flash Flood Warning
is issued. Move to higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not
stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising... move
to higher ground. Be especially cautious at night when it is
harder to recognize the dangers of floods and flash floods.
You should monitor the latest weather information and be alert
for possible flash flood warnings that may be issued.
Flood Watch for central NC until 5 am ET Wed.
