NWS Hearing 29 Jun 2005 link and commentary

This is a link to the hearing held 29 Jun 2005 by the Disaster Prevention and Prediction Subcommittee of the Senate Commerce Committee.

That page has links to testimony by Max Mayfield and others.

I happened to find out about it partway through the C-Span rebroadcast this morning. I note that after panel 2 gave their testimonies, there were a few perfunctory comments by the senators (some of whom seemed to be trying to fish for "can other sectors do the job better than NWS?"), and then they ended the hearing.

(mods, feel free to pin this if you think it warranted)

The replay isn't available yet.. but from the written testimonies they didn't seem to open the door to anyone but the NWS to do the job and by far the comments were positive..These senators evidently are looking at the 786.S and gather info alrighty if mentioning replacement options. There is a bigger agenda to trim alright.

Write your Senators and Representatives!
