SE MA Thunder, Thursday Weather, Forecast

#1 Postby ColdFront77 » Thu Jun 05, 2003 1:21 am

A little excitement... :D I experienced some lightning and thunder early this morning, here in southeastern Massachusetts.

It was nice to hear a nearby thunderstorm [at least one] in the Bristol/Plymouth county area. (I am located in northern Bristol county now, I used to live in northern Plymouth county). :)

No, Donna. It isn't too rare to have thunderstorms overnight across southern New England. In fact, there have been storms much stronger (even severe) overnight during July, August and some years early September.

Some years there can even be overnight thunderstorms during April, May and June.

An overcast day here across eastern Massachusetts after the thunder that was across the area about fifteen hours ago. Temperature barely reached 60 degrees today with off and on showers during the afternoon.

Here is the National Weather Service (Taunton, MA NWS) forecast for my area through Tuesday:

Tonight. Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers until 3 am. Patchy fog. Lows in the upper 50s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Friday. Mostly sunny and warmer. Highs near 80. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Friday night. Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 50s. Light southwest winds.

Saturday. Increasing cloudiness. A chance of showers late in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 70s. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Saturday night. Rain and drizzle likely. Lows in the mid 50s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

Sunday. A chance of showers in the morning. Otherwise becoming mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Sunday night. Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 50s.

Monday. Increasing cloudiness. A chance of showers after midnight. Breezy. Highs in the mid 70s.

Tuesday. A chance of showers in the morning. Otherwise becoming mostly clear. Breezy. Lows in the mid 50s and highs in the mid 70s.

The latest Accu-Weather forecast {as of early Thursday afternoon} for the Boston area calls for near 80 degrees tomorrow (Friday), 76 with a late day thunderstorm, Saturday and Sunday, temperature near 70 with a chance of a thunderstorm.
