Rain in the KC Metro Area

#1 Postby simplykristi » Fri Aug 12, 2005 4:27 pm

Hi All,
We've had heavy rain this afternoon here in my area.

The first round brought a little over .25 of rain. We are getting a heavy thunderstorm as I type. I will report the total after the storm moves on.

Since yesterday afternoon, we've had 2.5 inches of rain. Add to that the .35 inches of rain yesterday morning and we have a total of 2.85 inches of much needed rain.

Have had close to 3 inches today here in Lawrence with another batch heading in from the south west-I may be on the northern fringe of this batch however-the front has sagged just a bit south. We lost power for about 2 hours as we had some pretty good air-ground lightening with some of the storms-feels like late September/early October outside right now-temps. in the lower 60's with pretty stiff North east wind blowing-amazing front!!! This is the third strong front for this time of year we have had-while it has been hot in between the fronts, they have sure cooled us off!!! Hope this makes to other areas exper. the heat!!!

simplykristi:

Lawrence flooded big time yesterday afternoon-the underpass by Johnny's had 3 cars get stranded in like 8 feet of water-23rd flooded at Naismith Drive and folks had to be pulled out by resuce workers-we had 4 inches in four hours!! Well, at least we all goty the rain we needed and it sure does feel nice outside today!!! I feel like I should be at Memorial Stadium!!!

I read about yesterday's flash flooding on Lawrence-Journal World's website. It's only in the upper 60s here today. The rain has been off to our south and east today.

Amazing the amount of rain that fell, albeit much deserved precipitation for a change.

Yes, this rain is a welcome change!! We are closing in on an inch here total, but we should get more overnight as a disturbance rides the stationary front out of Oklahoma.
