All in ALL.......it was a BUST!

With only 5 more days remaining in August, I'm sitting at 4.91" of rain, add that to the WHOPPING .08" for the month of July, 4.99".....the Monsoon in reality was a BUST -O- RAMA for me!! I'm down 5.03" for July and August......the Monsoon for me is typically over the second week in Sept BUT.......the way things are looking right NOW, it's OVER ALREADY!! The ONLY saving grace would be a hurricane in the Gulf of Baja to push some moisture back in and right now, it's NOT in the cards!! Let's HOPE the winter is a little more succesful moisture wise!!

Well, I got 4.49in in July and so far 5.72in in August for 10.21in for the monsoon "season" which runs from June 15 through September 30th. Normal for the "season" through August 31st is 9.34in. We are definitely drying out though the model runs bring the moisture back for the holiday which is possible. September is the month most likely for us to catch a TC connection so we could still get rain then. The average rainfall for the monsoon here at the house is 11.01in. My original outlook called for SE AZ stations to average between 70 and 110% of monsoon rainfall for the entire "season" and that seems to be well on track for us down here.

This time of year, when a co-worker or my boss asks me, "When is it gonna rain again?", I always answer:

December.

Well, we have been known to pick up good rains in September and October from time to time but that usually depends up having a Tropical system in the right place at the right time. Beyond that, December is usually the time that secondary winter rainy season begins.

Really, I shouldn't complain about the amount of rainfall this year. The Maricopa County Flood Control District rain gauges near my house indicate about 10 inches of rain since January 1. I think that's the most in over a decade.

But any rain is good rain here in the southwest... So if we get some tropical stuff in Sept/Oct...

I have to agree, I can't complain either.....our wildfire season up here was virtually non existent this year, FIRST time in OVER 4 YEARS!! Our snowpack this past winter was right on, actually, about 75% above NORMAL. Sunrise Park Resort had a TOTAL of 326" at the top this past season, it's STILL very, very wet in the higher country!! I heard that this was ONE reason why "our" monsoon up here wasn't up to snuff.

Back to the DRY heat DANG it's HOT, not as HOT as PHOENIX however but none the less hot!! The 'soons? They're 'sooner GONE!
