Heads up SE Tx & SWLa-Severe Storms tonight-Secure tarps

Looking at radar, there's not much chance of avoiding the storms tonight, but hopefully they somehow won't be severe when they reach here. They just issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the area and there have been numerous Severe Thunderstorm Warnings with these storms. They actually seem to be getting stronger at the moment.

If you're going to be try and go out tonight for Halloween, better take an umbrella and have an alternate plan. I think Trick or Treaters are going to be highly disappointed. Timing isn't looking good, for here anyway.

A STRONG AND ACTIVE COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH SOUTHEAST TEXAS
AND SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA DURING THE EVENING HOURS. GUSTY WINDS,
FREQUENT LIGHTNING, AND LOCALIZED FLOODING RAINS CAN BE EXPECTED.
IN ADDITION, SEVERE WEATHER, MAINLY FROM STRAIGHT LINE WINDS, IS
ALSO POSSIBLE. TRICK OR TREATERS NEED TO KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE TO
THE SKY.

ALSO, HOMEOWNERS NEED TO ENSURE THAT THE TARPS ARE SECURELY
ATTACHED TO THEIR ROOFS. OTHERWISE, ADDITIONAL DAMAGE FROM GUSTY
WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE.

Boy was it windy out last night! Not to mention hard rain. Going down the freeway, there was stuff flying all over it....looked like mostly light trash (paper, cans, etc.) but it was a weird sight - tons of it and I guess it was right when the winds were picking up. My car did go ka-plunk when I ran over a big cardboard box that landed right in front of me. lol I saw a transformer blow, looked like near one of the hospitals but they seemed to have lights later when I went by. Incredible lightning show. .All in all, just some good storms but nasty weather to be out in on Halloween. Quite certain it was a washout for any Trick or Treaters as it all started shortly before dark and the rain lingered until pretty late.

I hope all of our SE Tx and SW La stormk'ers fared well, seeing as this was the first real storm since Rita hit.
