I usually get them fine, but these just don't make any sense to me.

RASN MIX is probably rain/snow mix.

I've got no idea of what the others mean.

It sure seems like they are sometimes, but I don't think so.


And you're probably right on that rain snow mix one, all I was getting was "raisin mix" and I didn't think that was right.

If you want that's a lot, this guy HTS from Sterling always writes like this, and it is annoying. Here's his part of the AFD in case 4 paragraphs of that is amusing

AFD's used to be designed for WFO/forecaster/spotter coordination, and not for the public, so to save time and space, the NWS made up several abbreviations. AFD's used to be all in abbreviations, even for simple words. Now, since the Internet has come to age and more members of the general public view the AFD's, many WFO's now trim down their abbreviations. Some still do like the old way, however.

Ahh, yes, I was used to seeing it with an 'h' for thickness, and, well, they never actually call it the Blue Ridge. Thanks for the help!
