Weird Hail Fog

#1 Postby Pileus » Sat May 20, 2006 6:50 pm

Really strange fog is hanging low over the ground from a hail storm we
had this afternoon. It's almost like opening the freezer door on the fridge.
Pea to golf ball size covered the ground at 3pm today.

I've heard of that. In April, some city in the central USA had for current conditions "freezing fog".

Freezing fog is different from what they are talking about here. Fog right here is forming becuase of the hail that is on the ground and is evaporating away with such warm temperatures above, an occurance that happens when snow melts as well quite often in the plains too...

Freezing fog is where you have fog due to whatever reasons and the air temperature is actually so cold that the fog is freezing to everything, very dangerous, but can also make for some pretty pictures.
