Good example of cloud to ground... or should I say ground to cloud.. I beleive lightening like this is actually initiated from the ground and moves upwards.. something like that.. maybe someone else can clarify.. Cloud to cloud of course is not..

The inital flood of electrons is from the cloud down but the visible discharge (what we see and photograph) is from the ground up.
