Possible TVS Incoming 1:40UTC to TUS

#1 Postby Arizwx » Sun Jul 20, 2003 9:22 pm

Just reviewing several frames of the KEMX 88-D.Amazing detail of flow on to tail rear flanker just ESE of TUS heading NNW 13kt.
Good inflow off a flanked Sheared Anvil with DBz well in to the hi 60s low 70s .Nice inflow 'tail' with decent outflow.Est inflow 77kt outflow 65kt to 5K feet..supercell with possible 'Beavertail' signature/now inbound...no Sev warnings or watches per KTUS at this time.
Recent soundings indicate Cape 1700 jk/g with outstanding down flow from mountains/orographic lift...Helicity not unfavorble at neg 7 with tops cooling to Neg 40C to 50Kfeet msl/
Watch should be imminent for E TUS then Oro Valley/Casas Adobes...non yet/
Will advise.
Temp 103/Dp 57F/wind slack/ptly cldy

Update at 19:10 TUS issues Sev Trstrm warning for West Cent Cochise Co and E Pima County...for 2 cells ...one moving ssw 20 the other broke off to nnw at 20...more later.

David - no damage repts. at this time up here but there have been reports of
.75" hail earlier this evening in Southern AZ closer to Aslkahuna. The severe
storm warnings are over now for us as most he heavy stuff has moved west.
We had wind and lightning -- no rain. There is a possibility of some quick
showers within the next 2 hours, nothing major according to NWS.

Wow... sorry you didn't get no rain. I'm amazed I got a trace!

Have a good, safe night. :)
