NWS Confirms 3 Tornadoes in Albany Area Monday Night

#1 Postby stormraiser » Wed Jul 23, 2003 5:17 am

The one closest to me was F2. I haven't had time to see the damage of that one, as I am in Western Massachusetts on a job. The one that I did see was rated F1. The damage to that one was pretty bad. Also, in Bennington County, Vermont, a "Moderate" tornado went through, but it didn't seem to do much but cause people to lose power.

Here is a story from the local paper.

I'm glad as you said in your post that the game reserve wasn't affected. That is pretty scary, particularly for up there where it's rather hilly. I remember seeing dopplar radar for that night and the line of storms up by NE Pennsylvania and up by where you are were intense!

Just drove through there a short while ago. Let's say, it was heart wrenching to see the devastation such a storm can cause. I forgot my camera, so I will have to try to get back over there today or this weekend. I probably won't get a chance to post the pics, if I can even figure out how to, until towards the end of next week some time.

NWS has said at least 6 tornadoes touched down in the Albany area that night.
