Humorous AFD from Raleigh

#1 Postby WidreMann » Thu Jul 24, 2003 9:35 pm

I was reading the nightly discussion as I usually do, but to my surprise tonight, I found this:

ALOHA. JUST THE LAST NIGHT IN PARADISE... AT LEAST THIS PARADISE. WATER
VAPOR IMAGERY INDICATES STRONG SUBSIDENCE UNDERCUTTING THE CIRRUS
SHIELD THROUGH THE FORECAST AREA. 00 UTC RAOBS SHOW THE SIGNIFICANT
DRYING TAKING PLACE OVER THE WEST PIEDMONT THAT IS HELPING TO DIMINISH
THE RADAR RETURNS IN THE NEARBY COUNTIES TO NOTHING. LOSS OF DIURNAL
HEATING HELPS THIS PROCESS AS WELL. DO NOT EXPECT FOG IN THE WESTERN
PIEDMONT WITH LOWS NOT REACHING THE DEWPOINTS THERE BUT WILL ALLOW THE
PATCHY FOG WORDING TO REMAIN IN THE EASTERN ZONES. WILL TAKE OUT ALL
POPS TONIGHT.

AS WE SAY IN THE NEW LAND MAHALO - OR FOR Y'ALL - THANK YAH THANK YAH
VARY MUCH.

ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING.

I'm not sure what to say.

Joel Cline, one of the lead forecasters, gathering from that AFD tonight, is leaving the Raleigh WFO, and maybe, going to Honolulu???

Does make you do a double-take reading that?

When I first read this, I thought you had found out elsewhere that he was leaving. But maybe he is. Who knows. Other theories are that he was high or drunk. Maybe they think nobody reads these and so they say whatever they want.
