SkyWarn Journalism

Media request about weather reporting

I'm a Washington, DC Skywarn spotter and amateur radio operator, and wanted to invite ARESv list members to become citizen weather journalists. A citizen journalism service that I'm a volunteer editor with, NowPublic, http://www.nowpublic.com , is looking for storm reports and weather reporters. NowPublic's news is distributed by the Associated Press.

Reporting for NowPublic is straightforward process. First, sign up at
http://www.nowpublic.com . Then login and write your article online. If you have any photos or videos you can upload them, too. Instantly after you file your article, your report will be available for everyone to read.

Being a weather correspondent for NowPublic is a good way to let people around the country know what happening in your community. And it goes hand-in-hand with Skywarn spotting, radio scanning, ARES, RACES and weather watching, too. This is also a good way to promote amateur radio and ARES, as well.

If you have any questions or would like any additional information about
this, please feel free to contact me.
