Hi,
on May 20th a strong squall line crossed wide areas in Germany from west to east with some super cells in front of the line. Damage from this squall line runs up to several millions of dollars, there was one death and many injuries. Within this squall line and the cell in front of it we are investigating nearly 40 cases with possible tornadoes. Until today at least 9 tornadoes are confirmed, which makes this the second tornado outbreak in Germany this year. It is not known if the case with one death was a tornado or a downburst.

Hi P.K.,
That's right. So far we have at least 18 confirmed tornadoes in Germany this year. Here are the numbers of previous years:
2003: 11 confirmed till June 14th
2004: 13 confirmed
2005: 9 confirmed
May be 5 to 10 more cases for this year till today will confirmed, the number will increase with more analysis completed.
Regards, Thomas
