Well after two years living in Columbus Ohio, after experiencing one amzing summer, one very interesting winter and one awful winter in Columbus, here I am back in my home land England.
So I thought I would post what I've been experiencing since I got back!
I left Columbus on the 31st May..a very hot day..top temp of 91F...I thought that since I was having a UK summer which was predicted to be very cool...that would be the hottest day of my year. Amazingly, it wasn't and I managed to get a temp of 94F in central England in July! Though the thunderstorm that was rolling over Port Columbus as my plane took off left me with a nice last picture of the USA!
Anyway, as you probably know, I stepped back into an amazing summer for Britain. Our hottest July ever recorded....long hot spells that lasted more than a week, (not usual for here)...if anything, it was more like an Ohio summer! Although much less humid. I suppose that was one thing i didn't miss!
It turn cold and wet in August and it seemed the bubble had burst and we were in for a wet and cold autumn.
Well, despite some heavy frosts late last week...the southerly flows have come back and we have been left with a very above average September and October. And as a bonus a lively thunderstorm in the first week of October...suddenly i am realising that the weather isn't that dull in England!
However, Britian seems to be stuck under a big mucky high pressure at the moment which is bringing fairly uninteresting weather this way and looks set to last at least this week.
I'd fogotten just how good England is at a good dense fog though!
Anyway, its good to be back on here, i still check up whats happening in the weather in Columbus and am amazed to see some snow has fallen there aleady this autumn! The US autumn seems a complete opposite to the UK's so far!

A quick update from here. Weather has turned more seasonable now...though still the odd mild day.
As I've mentioned in other threads, all eyes are currently on some nasty looking lows about to sweep the UK this week. A stormy week ahead...and a small chance for snow (maybe!) is any of these storms take a more southerly track and get some colder air involved...though i reckon more like for the higher elevations.
Too difficult to say what will happen in the future, with these deep low pressures due through, anything by the end of this week and into next weekend is very difficult to predict, yes, there is a chance of much colder air in the wake of Friday's storm....but also the chance of that pesky southerly flow returning taking us back to the very mild conditions that we've been getting used to!
