Lightning storm puts southern Sydney in the dark

#1 Postby senorpepr » Mon Jan 26, 2004 10:49 am

More storms are expected later today after a lightning storm on Saturday blacked out about 18,000 homes across southern Sydney and the New South Wales central coast.

The State Emergency Service (SES) says damage to homes was minimal, with about 50 requests for help across Sydney.
By last night, about 2,000 people around Avoca on the central coast were still without power.
Another 1,500 homes in southern Sydney remained blacked out into the night in Liverpool, Peakhurst and Jannali.
